SGS
Global testing, inspection, and certification group with a broad management-system registrar network.
SGS is one of the largest testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) groups. Mid-market manufacturers already using SGS for product testing, supplier inspection, or trade services sometimes prefer to keep management-system certification in the same family of companies. That can simplify vendor onboarding. It does not, by itself, make the audit cheaper or more appropriate.
Fit for mid-market teams
SGS is frequently shortlisted when you have multi-country sites, supply-chain customers who recognize the brand, or a need to combine quality, environment, and safety audits. The registrar footprint is wide; the practical question is which SGS legal entity will issue the certificate and whether that entity holds the accredited scope you need.
If you are moving from quality into information security or AI management, ask specifically which office and which accreditation mark will appear on the 27001 or 42001 certificate. Group marketing pages are not a substitute for the schedule of accreditation.
Questions that belong in the RFQ
- Named legal entity, accreditation body, and certificate mark.
- Industry experience for your IAF codes / EA codes.
- Integrated-audit capability and how days will be calculated.
- Local language coverage for shop-floor interviews.
Do not treat a global brand as a guarantee of local auditor competence. Ask who will actually visit the site.
